Definitions and Interpretation

‘ABTA’: ABTA - The Travel Association who has developed The All About ABTA Training Programme

‘The Software Provider’: Travel Uni, t/a BMI Publications Ltd who have provided the software used to run the All About ABTA Training Programme
‘The User’:
The travel business nominating employees and any travel and tourism academics nominating students to use the All About ABTA Training Programme.

‘The Nominated Person’: The individual nominated by the user who is either receiving training for or has completed the All About ABTA Training Programme. A user may nominate any number of its employees or students as Nominated Persons.

The All about ABTA training programme: ABTA’s Training All About ABTA training programme, which is made available via www.allaboutabta.co.uk and allabotabta.com.  The aim of All About ABTA training Programme is to ensure that ABTA members and other members of the travel industry as well as academics and their students studying the industry are well informed about what being an ABTA member means and the protection and services ABTA offers in order to improve their knowledge and levels of customer service.

‘Intellectual Property’: Any patent, copyright, registered design, trademark or other industrial or intellectual property right subsisting in respect of the information supplied by ABTA, and applications for any of the foregoing.

Any reference in these Terms and Conditions to ‘writing’ or like expressions includes a reference to facsimile transmission, electronic mail or comparable means of communication.

The headings in these Terms and Conditions are for convenience only and shall not affect their interpretation.

Registration and Renewal

Access to the Training Programme is restricted by a username and password for each Nominated Person, issued to them upon registration by the Software Provider. The Software Provider and each Nominated Person agree that each username and password will only be used by the Nominated Person for whom it is issued, and not disclosed to anyone other than the User and the Nominated Person.

On completion of registration (which shall be undertaken electronically by way of www.allaboutabta.co.uk website), the Software Provider shall provide the Nominated Person with electronic access to the Training Programme.


On successful completion of all training modules by achievement of a score of 70% or more in the test at the end of each such module, the Nominated Person will be able to download a certificate stating that they have completed the training Programme.


The user and the Nominated Person shall at all times keep any Restricted Information confidential and accordingly not disclose any Restricted Information to any other person; and not to use any Restricted Information for any purpose other than the performance of their obligations under these Terms of use.


‘Restricted Information’: Any information which is disclosed to the user or nominated person by ABTA pursuant to or in connection with the Training Programme (whether orally or in writing) and which is expressly stated to be confidential or marked as such. Any such information not so designated as being confidential may freely be publicised in order to promote ABTA The Travel Association.

Intellectual Property

Nothing in these Terms of use shall give the User or the Nominated Person any rights in respect of any trade names or trade marks used by ABTA in relation to All About ABTA Training Programme, and the travel business and Nominated Person hereby acknowledge that except as expressly provided in these Terms of use it shall not acquire any rights in respect thereof, and that all such rights are and remain vested in ABTA. The user or Nominated Person shall not use any trademarks or trade names so resembling those of ABTA as to be likely to cause confusion or deception.

Data Protection

The User and the Nominated Person consent to the Software Provider’s processing of the personal data concerning the All About ABTA Training Programme that is completed during the registration process for the purposes stated in the Software Providers’s Privacy Policy.


ABTA shall be at liberty to perform any or all its obligations under this Agreement through third parties.

ABTA may vary these Terms and Conditions at any time upon 30 days` notice, such notice to be published on ABTA's Website only.

These Terms of use shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

Capitalized terms used in this Privacy Policy have the meanings given to them in theAll About ABTA  Terms of use.

b) Personal Data


The Software Providers privacy policy is based on, and is consistent with, UK Data Protection Laws. These laws can be viewed online at www.dataprotection.gov.uk

ABTA may process the personal data concerning the All About ABTA Training that is completed during the registration process for the purposes of:

• compliance with ABTA’s rights and obligations under the All About ABTA Training Terms of use ;
• providing the All About ABTA Training with further information on ABTA The Travel Association, and special promotions. The Users who are individuals (including partnerships in England and Wales) have the statutory right under the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 to opt out of such communications, and can do so by emailing ABTA at vwolf@abta.co.uk ABTA will not process such personal data for any other purposes.

The Software Provider stores this information in encrypted form, and disposes of it once the purpose for which it was collected has been achieved. The length of time for which it is stored may vary according to the purpose for which it has been collected. Except as stated above, no such information will be released to a third party without the user or Nominated Person’s prior consent, unless ABTA or the Software Provider is compelled to do so by law.


c) Cookies

The http://allaboutabta.co.uk website uses cookies to identify and login the Nominated Person and to identify the travel business for registration of new Nominated Persons. Cookies are a small string of code that a web site can send to your web browser. A cookie cannot extract information from your computer, transmit computer viruses, or capture or transmit your email address. You can decide to de-activate cookies on your computer by accessing your web browser settings.

Access to Information

Any person or organisation, who has registered with this web site, and who believes that we have gathered and stored personal information relating to them, may request to view that information under the provisions of the relevant data protection laws.
